We're delighted to announce that Tusker has been shortlisted for two categories at the Irish Steel Awards 2026 — recognising the skill, planning, and teamwork behind two of our standout projects over the past year.

Engineering & Fabricated Assemblies: Hot Gas Duct and Valve Replacement, Irish Cement

Our team delivered a full replacement of the Coal Mill 3 Hot Gas Duct and Valve for Irish Cement, completed entirely within a tightly controlled annual shutdown window at the Louth plant.

From detailed engineering review right through to fabrication, lifting, installation, and commissioning, Tusker managed every stage in-house. The project involved forming, rolling, bending, and welding heavy-gauge steel ducting (5mm–10mm thickness), with 3D scanning technology used to guarantee precise alignment with existing plant infrastructure.

What made this project stand out was the seamless coordination between our fabrication, mechanical, lifting, and site management teams — allowing a complex duct and valve replacement to be completed safely, on time, and to a high standard, with the plant back up and running as scheduled.

Industrial Engineering – Construction Projects: Lakeland Dairies Milk Intake Extension

We've also been shortlisted — twice — in the Industrial Engineering – Construction Projects category, for both the Hot Gas Duct project above and our Lakeland Dairies Milk Intake Extension in Bailieborough, Co. Cavan.

This project involved the extension of the milk intake canopy, a new entrance road and yard area, new silo plinths, drainage networks, an intake pipe bridge, and associated electrical and administration facilities — all delivered within a live, fully operational dairy facility.

Working to a fixed-price contract and winter programme, our team coordinated daily with Lakeland Dairies' operations staff and tanker drivers to keep milk intake running without interruption throughout the build. By fabricating steel structures offsite and managing fabrication, crane hire, haulage, and construction all in-house, Tusker maintained full control of the project from concept to completion — delivered on time, within budget, and with zero health and safety incidents.

A Team Effort

Both nominations reflect the strength of Tusker's integrated model — bringing fabrication, lifting, haulage, and construction together under one roof to deliver complex projects safely and efficiently. Congratulations to everyone across our fabrication, mechanical, lifting, haulage, and site teams who made these projects possible.
